Dr. John Orr
Dr. John R. Orr is the conductor of the Knoxville Choral Society, Knoxville’s premier civic chorus of over 120 auditioned voices that performs a wide variety of modern and traditional choral music, while regularly collaborating with the Knoxville Symphony for Choral Masterwork performances. He is also conductor of the Knoxville Chamber Chorale, an elite choir of 24 auditioned singers that performs throughout the Knoxville area. He currently serves on the TN-ACDA board as Coordinator for Community Choirs. Dr. Orr holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Theory, Composition and Church Music from William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. He also holds a Master of Music from Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY, and the Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the University of Alabama. He has written 3 units of children’s choir curriculum for Celebrating Grace publishing and is currently Pastor of Music and Worship at the Community Church in Tellico Village.
